Sam Kong
Sam’s passion for music started at 13 when he began drumming, nurturing his interest by joining his secondary school’s concert band as a percussionist. During his time at Singapore Polytechnic, he joined the jazz band under Joshua Wan, solidifying his love for jazz.
Since then, Sam has improved his skills through programmes such as Mosaic Jazz Fellows, performing at gigs in Singapore and teaching others the drums at The Music Lab. He will graduate this year from LASALLE College of the Arts’ BA (Hons) Music programme and looks forward to his continued pursuit of jazz excellence upon graduation.
Work
Sam was a part of the Coral Concert Band from 2009 to 2014 and the Singapore Polytechnic Jazz Band from 2013 to 2017. He has performed at venues such as the BluJaz Café, Cool Cats and the Esplanade. Aside from live performances, Sam also performs online through livestreams.
